| On average, it will take me between 2 and 3 hours to install dreads, or roving dreads, depending on the length of your natural hair. Braids can take anything between 8 and 12 hours. It is a very long process, so you are welcome to bring as many video's and DVD's as you like! Please keep in mind when you book your braid installation day, that it will be a whole day. Do NOT plan to do anything else, or you may end up with a rushed job. | |
| When you make an order with Head Spun, you are agreeing that you accept the consequenses if you have a bad reaction to the extensions. I am not responsible if you get a rash with roving dreads because you are allergic to wool. Although, if anything does go wrong, I will of course do what ever I can to help your problem. I have never had a client who has had any problems with my extensions. Your natural hair should not be damaged by the extensions as I don't use any glues or chemicals on your hair. This means that when you remove the extensions, you hair is exactly as you saw it last (maybe a litte greasier!). I have heard stories of hair loss and such things, but if you have any worries at all, I will fix it before it is that serious. Take warning that when you remove the extensions, a lot of hair will fall out anyway. This is just the hair that is naturally shed, and has been unable to fall away because of the braids. Do not be scared by the amount of hair you lose! Every day you lose aroung 100 hairs, so imagine how much that is over a few weeks! | |
| The extensions are very easy to care for. Keep them away from things like velcro, and respect them. That is about it. Some people like to sleep on a silk pillow, or waering a head scarf/tights. This is just to reduce the 'fuzz' that builds up over wear. You will recieve and Aftercare leaflet with your completed order to give more details. | |
| They are very easy to remove. simply snip off the elastic at the end of the braid/dread, and unravel the braid. You only need to be careful when brushing you hair. I recommend you take out two or three braids/dreads at a time and brush your hair as you go. This will minimise risks of large tangles. You will recieve more detailed information on removing the extensions when your order is complete. | |
| The limit I give as a guide is 3months. Any longer and the hair behind the extensions begin to dread themselves and make it hard to remove them. The time thet last will be affected by many aspects, such as: how tight they are put in, the material, how they are slept in, how they are treated, how fast your hair grows, how your hair reacts to the extension...the list goes on. If you are like me, it they will only last two weeks before you want something new! | |
| Of course! There are thousands of photos on the internet that you can use as inspiration. Of course I won't always be able to match it exactly, and some styles may be covered by copywright (it is always a good idea to contact the owner and ask permission first). If I can't give you the exact same thing, then i will get very close to it. | |
| Anyone! I would recommend against it if you have had problems with your hair before, such as hair loss or serious damage due to dye etc. I will work with straight or curly, light or dark, long or short (3" minimum) hair. | |
| The shortest it can be is about 3 inches. But really, so long as I can easily get hold of it, it should be fine. There is no limit on long hair, although keep in mind that the extensions must be longer than your natural hair. | |
| Yes. You will not need to wash your hair more than once a week. Yes it ounds gross, but if anything it is bad for you hair. Damp hair is weak and the weight of the extensions may cause breakage if you wash them too much. You can use watered down shampoo (NO CONDITIONER!) to run over your scalp. The extensions themselves will not need to be washed. Some people decide not to wash their hair at all. More information on washing your hair will be given to you with your completed order. | |
| Sure! I always use manufactured dreadlocks (Elysee Stars), unless you specifically ask me to order handmade ones from a good seller for you (these dreads are more expensive but 400 times better). If you find some pretty wool, cord, plastic, or anything else that you liek the look of, bring it along and I will see what we can do with it. | |
| Sometimes. The easiest remedy I have found is Febreeze! The grease and sweat that builds up on your scalp can sometimes smell after a while. You may need a very good friend to sniff and tell you if you smell. It is very easy to get rid of though. Roving sometimes smells when it is wet too. It reminds me of soggy sheep (unsuprisingly) so always have an umbrella with you! It isn't all that noticable unless you mention it or shove your head up someone's nose. | |
| Braids: Take longest to put in, look neat and are thin, tend to be less itchy (because they are smooth). Dreads: Take shortest time, spiky/funky look, get fuzzy after wear, can be re-used, can itch because of their 'messy' look. Roving: Smells when wet, Hand dyed, quick to install, but longer for me to make, can be completely customised, smooth and fat, lightweight (easy on the scalp). |

| No. It may be uncomfortable while it is being done, and for the first week of being in. Sometimes it stings a little if the extensions get caught on something, but you should be fine other than that. If you experience bad discomfort and are worried, feel free to contact me. | |
